The walking Buddha is Sukhothai's most original creation. Here the left foot steps forward and the right heel lifts, the right arm swings gracefully and the left hand is raised in the gesture of reassurance.
The posture recalls the Buddha's descent from Tavatimsa heaven after preaching to his mother. Small walking images of this quality rarely reach the market.
