A mangosteen-form gold box enamelled in green and red over kanok scrollwork, with a lotus-petal finial. Such boxes held lip wax or perfumes in a well-to-do household's personal set.
Rachawadi enamel is fired in several passes, which is why its colour stays bright a century on. Probably made in the late Fifth to early Sixth Reign.
This is an antique; a buyer wishing to take it out of Thailand must first obtain a Fine Arts Department export licence.
